Project description
The goal is to enhance Employee Experience by creating a unified portal that streamlines access, reduces support challenges, and boosts productivity across the organization.
Timeline
From understanding to delivering all modules along with a design system during a 4 month capstone internship.
Background
“EmployeeFirst,” a Human Resource Management System specifically designed to address the critical challenges of inefficient manual processes and limited visibility across departments, faced by small-mid sized companies. By empowering key user groups (Employee, Human Resources and admin ) with a unified platform, “EmployeeFirst” aims to focus on employee driven processes, leading to increased productivity and improved data accuracy for a seamless and efficient company-wide experience.
Employee First portal makes available a wide range of relevant HR content, including information on administrative matters, team dynamics, attendance, time-off, company policies, which means employees can find their answers to most of their queries.
Process
Research & Planning
Go through the defined functional requirement document to understand and plan my approach towards each module.
Design & Prototyping
Create intuitive user interfaces and interactive prototypes. Iteratively refined designs based on unit testing feedback to enhance usability and visual appeal.
Implementation
The screens were created by the technical team, generally divided into three stages: Front-end, Functionality and Back-end, and then deployed onto the local server for testing. My role here was to ensure a smooth transition from design to development.
Testing & Optimization
Each module and screen was tested several times to check for bugs and issues and ensure a 100 percent match between the system and the requirements. This process also helped us recognise problems in the UI that needed to be altered.
Conclusion & Future
EmployeeFirst, with its well-designed modules and user-friendly interface, lays a strong foundation for streamlined human resource management. By focusing on user experience, data security, and efficient workflows, the system empowers both HR professionals and employees. Looking ahead, continuous development efforts can further enhance functionalities, integrate with other essential systems, and leverage emerging technologies. This continuous improvement ensures that the HRMS remains a valuable tool for organizational growth and a positive experience for its users.
