With air travel increasing rapidly, airports are becoming more complex and passenger journeys more stressful. Missed flights, long queues, and confusing navigation are common pain points that need to be addressed. Studies show that unhappy passengers spend less on non-aeronautical services, limiting airports’ ability to maximize revenue from retail and dining options. Addressing these pain points is essential to enhance user satisfaction and improve airport efficiency. Udaan is a mobile application designed to transform the airport experience for travelers. Udaan, meaning "flight" in Hindi, aims to empower users with a centralized platform to navigate every aspect of their airport visit, fostering a stress-free and efficient journey.

This layered transparency reduces stress by allowing users to plan each step with precision, and provides reassurance as they progress, ensuring users are fully informed and empowered at every point of their airport experience.

We wanted to enable the users to navigate the airport seamlessly, locate amenities, and stay on track with real-time assistance. Starting with a clear, simplified map, users can filter by categories like "Food & Drink" and "Restrooms" to easily find services along their route. Estimated time and distance updates help users manage their journey without anxiety.

The AR wayfinding feature enhances spatial awareness by guiding users through complex layouts with visual overlays. By combining intuitive navigation, categorized search, and real-world AR guidance, this flow empowers users to explore and navigate the airport with confidence and ease.

Udaan is designed to transform the airport experience by addressing key pain points like navigation challenges, long queues, and lack of clear information. By combining user-centered research with thoughtful design decisions, Udaan empowers travelers to navigate airports efficiently and confidently. With features like real-time updates, AR guidance, and service locators, the app enhances both convenience and user satisfaction. Ultimately, Udaan not only reduces travel stress but also encourages passengers to make the most of their time at the airport, creating a more enjoyable and productive journey.

Future Scope

For our next steps, we plan to continue building this application and exploring the arrivals journey which we were not able to cover due to time constraints.



We also want to able to add a baggage tracking and identification tags with-in the application as a feature as our research suggests that a majority of people would like to receive notifications about their luggage.
